The 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment, known as "The Old Guard," was officially designated as the U.S. Army's ceremonial unit on April 6, 1948. Since then, The Old Guard has been responsible for guarding the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, establishing it as the home of the Sentinels who vigilantly protect this revered monument. In addition to its duties at the Tomb, The Old Guard performs all U.S. Army funeral ceremonies at Arlington National Cemetery, upholding the highest standards of honor and respect in commemorating the nation’s fallen Service Members.

This pistol was designed to pay homage to The Old Guard and what they do on a day-to-day basis during their funeral ceremonies. Right Side: Honors the 7 man firing party that fires the 21-gun salute. Left Side: Honors the Casket Team and Caisson Platoon that transfers the fallen soldier to their final resting place. Top: Honors the Bugler who plays Taps during the Funeral, and Honors the Chaplin who most often passes to the next of kin or family member the folded flag. Grips: The Folded Flag medallion is the symbol that the Country uses to honor the fallen soldier and pay thanks for their service to their country.
